DARIA KRYLOVA

T-Shirt Design
Tasked with creating a design for a commemorative t-shirt for our Taglit May 2025 trip, I decided to use the daily "Hebrew Word of the Day" segment of our journey as inspiration. On the third day of the trip, we learned the slang term "sababa," which comes from Arabic initially and is used to express enthusiasm about something, or a positive attitude or approval. Our group loved the word and, probably, simply the sound of it so much that it became our catchphrase. Therefore, this was my starting point in thinking about the design.

BRAINSTORMING
I began thinking about how this word of the day could be used as a symbol of the trip. In line with the general theme of vocabulary, I turned to examples of the "word of the day" in other languages and cultures, such as the Russian humorous version and the definition card.

VISUALIZING
Among the first versions of the design was "sababa" written out in English. The other version had the word of the day written out in fully vocalized Hebrew. Both featured the date and the name of the program, "taglit," in English and then mirrored in Hebrew. Already at this stage, I knew that I would keep the second version, as it gives a more wholesome feeling rather than having "sababa" just written out in English.

FINALIZING
I decided to switch to unpointed Hebrew to keep with the style in which the date and program name are written. After consulting with some of the trip participants, I incorporated their suggestions and corrected the date and program name for the proper word order.
RESULT
